Star Insulators
Reprinted from "INSULATORS - Crown Jewels of the Wire", August 1973, page 30
Dear Dora,
As long as I was renewing my subscription to your excellent magazine, I
thought I would include a couple of items of possible interest. The below photo
from Electronic Design News is self explanatory.
On the Star issue, I discovered in a reference book at the local library the
following glass companies:
- Star Glass Co., Star City, West Virginia 1908-1926
- Star Glass Works, Medford,
New Jersey 1899-1925
- Star Glass Works (E. H. Everett Co.), Newark, Ohio
1883-1904
- Star Glass Co., Morgantown, West Virginia 1906-1921
Maybe some collectors in these areas could do a little local checking to see
if any are the source of the Star insulators.
Keep up the good work.

OK! Who's the wise guy?
Northwestern Bell people in Galchutt, N.D., are still wondering what happened
to the bottom of this telephone pole. The case was unsolved after a three-week
investigation that produced only one solid answer: Telephone wires are stronger
than they look.
