This was our tenth annual show in Portland on the second Saturday in August. The show was started in an effort to provide a summer gathering for Portland-area collectors, at a time when there were few other local options. Since that time some shows have ceased, such as the Cle Elum tailgater, while others have popped up to help fill the void such as those sponsored by the Jefferson State club. This year's show continued our chain of good luck with the weather. I heard no complaints about the clear skies and 80 degree temperatures.

We were pleased to welcome the newly-retired and relocated Mike Guthrie family. Of course the greatest "walk-in" item was Howard Bank's Fluid Insulator, purchased on the way to the show. It was just incredible to see such a rare item and to know that it saw service within 5 miles of the show location. Our renowned "1:00 pm start time" continues to elicit comments and giggles as each collector determines which time zone to set his watch to. Per usual, we welcomed our first guests around breakfast time and the visiting continued until early evening. Win and Bonnie Trueblood extended their unbroken attendance streak, this year sharing the ride with Robin Harrison, also from the Seattle area.

The good food, perfect weather, and laid-back atmosphere made it possible to enjoy chats with many of the guests, and I was pleased to deepen friendships with several wonderful people. We are very much looking forward to the next one.
