COLLECTING
INSULATORS

Hi, my name is Dan Tobojka. I'm from Holden, MA. I have been collecting insulators for about a year now. It may not seem like that long but it has been. I've collected many different kinds of insulators. A friend gave my first insulator to me. It was during school. He had it with him and he didn't want it so he gave it to me. A nice (even though cheap and common) Hemi 16 in aqua. I was thrilled that he gave it to me, in a certain way. It made it seem like the whole world to me at the time. I have many different kinds of glass insulators and a few porcelains. My favorite insulator is a very light Brookfield glass insulator. The best thing about it is that it has an amber swirl that goes around the skirt of the insulator.

A lot of my time has been spent at antique shops and yard/garage sales. I mostly find common, sometimes an uncommon, but not many of those. My collection is not large yet, about 100. Some of the insulators that I have are from my friend that gave me the first one. Last time I went over to his house he had one of those CD 734 threadless McMicking insulators in his light box. I thought it was a pretty cool insulator. I've wanted one for a while and couldn't find them. I couldn't find them on Icon or eBay. I actually have not one threadless, weird but true. Other collectors always beat me out. It is like some sort of rat race that I can never win.

Aside from that I'd have to say I love insulators. The more and more I get, the more and more I become interested in collecting. When I started to collect my brother did too, but then he stopped. He then gave me all of his to me. My family thought I was obsessed with it and shouldn't care this much about pieces of glass. I didn't care what they said. I kept on buying, selling, and trading. I hope to keep on collecting them for a long time. The thrill of what might happen next or what I might find next excites me. I have a lot more to learn about them. Someday, I hope that I can be known throughout the U.S. or even the world for how good my collection is and how good of collector I am or will be.

Dear Mr. Banks.
I am Jake and I just turned eight years old, today. the same day that I gat the insulators that you sent me. The reason I like insulators is because my brother Brandon really likes them and I want a collection too. Thank you very much. They are GREAT!!!

Dear Mr. Banks,
Thank you very much for the terrific insulators that you sent. I started collecting insulators three years ago when my grandpa gave me some. I really liked the colors! The ones that I collected are nice, but these are just awesome!!!!

Howard,
We received the insulators today and when Stacy saw these insulators especially the Mickey she couldn't stop looking at it. The smile on her face was priceless, Thank You! Stacy told me that she loves Mickey's so much that she wants to build a collection of all insulators with ears. That should be interesting.
