Giant bubbles. Amber swirls. Frothy glass. Lots can happen in the making of an insulator to create specimens with special character. Swirls in the cobalt signal above seem to resemble a prehistoric drawing of a cave bear. In the one on the cover, the swirls seem to form a lion, or the Sphinx.

I've ordered ice cream sundaes that didn't have this much topping. One of the joys of collecting is gathering specimens with special character, such as this CD 143 with a whittle mold appearance on the outside and amber swirls inside. It belongs to Bill Reid. For more treats, turn to page 19.
